Weekly Update - January 10th - January 16th

Thoughts and Inspiration from Ward Conference:

Talk given by Bishop Gee:

*Let your adversity help you grow closer to Heavenly Father.

As part of Heavenly Father’s plan of redemption, all people experience adversity during their lifetime. Trials, disappointments, sadness, sickness, and heartache are a difficult part of life, but with the help of the Lord they can lead to spiritual growth, refinement, and progress.

*Wake up early

“Cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated” (D&C 88:124).
Elder Lee spoke about the necessity of receiving personal revelation in order to be effective and said: “If you are to be successful, you will need to be inspired. You will need to receive revelation. I will give you one piece of advice: Go to bed early and get up early. If you do, your body and mind will become rested, and then in the quiet of those early-morning hours, you will receive more flashes of insight and inspiration than at any other time of the day.”

*Study your scriptures

"We need to go to the scriptures humbly and eagerly.
Establish a regular time to study the scriptures. Once you get used to regular scripture study, you miss it if you don’t have it.
When we come to a crisis in our life, we should go looking in the scriptures for specific help. We will find answers in the scriptures.
If you read the Book of Mormon with an open heart, you will know that it is the word of God and that it is true.
In time, if you truly begin to feast upon the scriptures, you will find that they become a part of you." - President Henry B Eyring

*Have regular Family Home Evening

President Thomas S. Monson has said, “We cannot afford to neglect this heaven-inspired program. It can bring spiritual growth to each member of the family, helping him or her to withstand the temptations which are everywhere. The lessons learned in the home are those that last the longest.”

*Don't over schedule!  Make time to discuss and spend time as a family unit.

Don't forget to do your Visiting Teaching!

Sister Spotlight:

"Nancy T. is a sweet friend that I have loved getting to know the past two years that I have been her Visiting Teacher.  I hope that all of you will spend a little time to get to know her too!" - Sister Geisler

Nancy is a wonderful mother, fun, loving and a spunky gal.  She has a great husband named Charles, four wonderful children; Charlie -7, Chloe -5, Jenna -3 and Allison -2.  They are the love of her life.  She plays the trumpet with the rexburg tabernacle symphony, enjoys photography, crafts, riding dirt bikes and is an avid camper.  She is very fitness minded.  Last year, she had a goal to run 800 miles which she completed 802!  I am impressed as I am still working on goals from the 70's.  Her 2016 fitness goal is to work up to 100 push ups, she says it has to hurt a little in order to be a goal.

I have enjoyed watching the changes that she has made in her home to make it a reflection of her personality.  It is beautiful, clean, peaceful and Christlike - just as we find Nancy.
